Logispring backs world's first online courier company

eCourier (UK) Limited announces today that Logispring, a transatlantic investor focused on building businesses for global supply networks, has acquired a minority equity stake in eCourier for £2 million.

As eCourier's first institutional investor, and sole investor in this round of financing, Logispring is in good company, joining several well known private investors including Esther Dyson (CNET Networks), Stuart Wheeler (IG Index) and Harry Cragoe (PJ Smoothies). The investment will be used to accelerate eCourier's already phenomenal growth further, in the London market and beyond. Investment bank Spayne Lindsay & Co. advised eCourier on the transaction.

eCourier's Chief Executive Officer Tom Allason said: "Logispring demonstrated a unique understanding of our business, its potential as well as the opportunities and challenges we will be facing in the coming years. We are very excited at the prospect of working with them to make eCourier the market leader in on-demand delivery."

Logispring partner Marcel Timmer joins the board of eCourier as a Non-Executive Director and comments: "eCourier has shaken up the greater London market with its superior technology and unparalleled customer focus. In less than two years eCourier has attracted an impressive and loyal customer base that has allowed the company to grow exponentially. We are committed to supporting eCourier's ambition in leveraging its scalable platform to expand its service footprint in London and other markets."

Through its innovative intelligent dispatch technology and operational excellence, eCourier combines high reliability with the fastest on-time delivery service in the market. Its website features real-time tracking of consignments from pick up to delivery and customers include leading investment banks, law firms and government departments, plus creative, retail and media industries and even private individuals.

After 18 months of Research & Development, eCourier began trading in September 2004, completing 25 consignments and billing less than £1,000 with just 4 couriers. Two years on and eCourier is Europe's fastest growing delivery business with over 100 eCouriers in London, completing in excess of 20,000 deliveries per month.
