eCourier Officially Honoured at the Webbys
eCourier, the groundbreaking online courier company, has been distinguished at this year’s Webbys. The Awards, now in their 10th year, are widely hailed as the Oscars of the Web.
The Webby Academy, whose illustrious members include names such as David Bowie, Anita Roddick, Oracle chairman Larry Ellison and ‘The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening, is the leading international institution honouring excellence on the web. The Academy applauded the high calibre and quantity of entries this year - more than 5,500 entries were submitted but fewer than 20% made the grade as Official Honourees.
As the Webby Awards judges entries on web design, creativity, usability and functionality, it’s clear to see why eCourier made the grade.
Founded just two years ago, eCourier is already hailed in the UK national press as one to watch and now has demonstrated to the international Academy judges it possesses the standard of excellence to deserve such recognition. Standing out from the masses is exactly what eCourier founders, Tom Allason and Jay Bregman, are succeeding in doing with their business www.ecourier.co.uk.
eCourier made its first delivery in September 2004, completing 25 deliveries and billing less than £1,000 in the first month with just 4 couriers. Just over a year later and it has averaged 40% month on month growth and is delivering approximately 15,000 deliveries a month with a team of 90 couriers. Growth is accelerating.
Two years in the making at universities across the world, the eCourier system (AIBA, Advanced Information Based Allocation) has totally transformed the courier industry. 90% Bookings are made on-line (no other company does more than 5%), simply by inputting the collection and delivery addresses and choosing the vehicle type. The whole process takes approximately 30 seconds. Customers no longer have to ‘chase’ the courier company to find out where their package is as they can watch the couriers moving about in real-time though eCourier’s unique web-tracking facility. The automated process delivers a completely reliable service that, to date, hasn’t lost one ‘booking on line’ customer since the company was founded.
"We are over the moon at being named Official Honouree at this year’s Webbys. The satisfaction of providing a faster, more reliable and efficient service than any of our competitors is itself extremely rewarding," says Tom Allason. "However, to receive such international recognition amongst our peers makes us very happy indeed."
