eCourier is looking to step up a gear with the appointment of Tony Ormsby as Head of Operations. The company, which launched in September 2004, has made the appointment, recognising that its fast growth potential requires the knowledge and managerial skills of an operations expert and experienced courier market practitioner.

Tony was formerly an operations director in consumer finance with a FTSE 100 company in a career spanning 19 years. He left the industry to become Managing Director of one of London's premier courier firms, Security Despatch, at a time when they combined with 37 other courier companies worldwide to form Despatch Management Services, and as a Director of DMS helped steer them towards a successful IPO in the United States raising $90 Million.

Commenting on the appointment, Tom Allason, co-founder and CEO of eCourier, said: "Having the vision of building the worlds best and most transparent courier company is one thing, putting it into practice requires experience and careful management. The growth that we have experienced in our first 6 months has created the requirement for the role. Tony brings with him a truck load of industry experience, but more importantly he is a business professional who can see what we are trying to achieve with eCourier."
