Our Net-Zero Targets: A Sustainable Future
At eCourier, sustainability is more than a goal—it’s a responsibility we embrace to create a better future for our planet. As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, we are taking decisive action to achieve Net-Zero emissions. This journey involves reducing our greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes, embedding sustainability into our culture, and inspiring positive change within our workforce and community.
What Does Net Zero Mean?
Net Zero is achieved when a business reduces its greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible, leaving only residual emissions that cannot be eliminated. These residual emissions are then neutralized through carbon removal efforts. To align with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C, the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) recommends businesses reduce total emissions by 90% by 2050. This includes emissions across Scope 1 (direct emissions from owned or controlled sources), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and Scope 3 (emissions across the value chain).
Our Short-Term Net Zero Targets
We are committed to making significant progress by 2030, with ambitious targets set against a 2023 baseline:
- Reduce Scope 1 emissions by 42%
- Reduce Scope 2 emissions to zero
- Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 42%
To achieve these goals, we are targeting annual emissions reductions of approximately 54.93 tCO₂e for Scope 1, 1.31 tCO₂e for location-based Scope 2, and 21.10 tCO₂e for Scope 3. Additionally, we are transitioning to 100% renewable electricity tariffs by 2030—or earlier where financially viable. These efforts are part of our broader commitment to reducing total emissions by at least 90% by 2040 and achieving Net-Zero.
Actions We’ve Taken to Reduce Emissions
Our journey to Net-Zero is already underway, with several impactful initiatives:
- Measuring Our Carbon Footprint: In 2023, we committed to measuring and reporting our carbon footprint annually, with expert support from Positive Planet. This allows us to identify key areas for improvement and take targeted action.
- Electrification Progress: Currently, 23% of our fleet produces zero emissions, and we have plans for significant expansion in the coming years.
- Cargo Bike Expansion: We’ve expanded our cargo bike fleet to promote sustainable transportation methods and reduce carbon emissions.
- Electric Vans: A portion of our fleet has transitioned to electric vans, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
- Paper Reduction: We’ve adapted our working practices to minimize printing and paper use, providing digital documents to clients wherever possible.

Embedding Sustainability into Our Culture
Sustainability is not just about reducing emissions—it’s about fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. By the end of 2025, we aim to certify 100 employees as Carbon Literate and integrate sustainability training into our onboarding processes. In 2025, we will also implement a Sustainable Travel Policy to guide employee decisions around business travel and commuting, while improving data collection on travel emissions.
Looking Ahead
Our efforts to reduce emissions, waste, and business travel are part of a broader commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2040. By embedding sustainability into every aspect of our work, we are investing in a greener future for our team, clients, partners, and local community. Together, we can make a difference and pave the way for a sustainable tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to take meaningful action toward our Net-Zero goals.
